Nature Trails & Parks
The Villages at Ocean Hill (VOH) offers several nature trails, paths, walkways, and pocket parks.
See the image below that shows all of the paths throughout the community and the location of the two pocket parks. For additional details and precise locations, see our VOH Brochure.
The southwest side of VOH has several nature trails that connect to NC 12/Ocean Trail and to crosswalks that connect to the eastside of VOH.
In the northwest corner, you can walk to the NC Currituck Banks Reserve and walk through the boardwalk that ends at a deck overseeing the sound. It’s a great location to see sunsets and nature at its best. Occasionally you can see wild horses roam the reserve and nutria (similar to muskrats and beavers) swimming through the canals.
VOH’s Sports Complex includes a playground. On NC 12/Ocean Trail, before entering the Sports Complex on Ocean Hill Blvd West, is a Currituck County Pocket Park. The park offers water fountains, a bike rack, trash can, two picnic tables under a gazebo, small tables and stools, and benches. An additional smaller pocket park is located on the westside of North Beach Access Rd, before accessing the 4x4 crossing ramp, at High Dune Loop, which offers bike racks and a bench. Both pocket parks are great as a rest stop on your walk or jog along NC 12.
NOTE: Half way through the community, going northbound, NC 12/Ocean Trail turns into North Beach Access Rd.
